WILDERNESS MEDICAL SYSTEMS KITS ARE DESIGNED AROUND 4 CRITERIA:
A WMS Medical Kit includes a balanced, wide range of high-quality emergency supplies. We strive for excellence in all aspects of our kits:
Which WMS Medical kit you choose
will depend on the size of your group, how long you plan on staying in a wilderness situation, and the likelihood of
getting to a medical facility within 8 to 12 hours if you need to. The table below will help you select your kit.
The range of WMS medical kits includes our largest expedition sized kit, the
Kilimanjaro™, through intermediate sizes such as the
Absorkee™,and the
Humbug II™, and includes the 1 or 2 person sized kits such as the
Denali™, the
Grasshopper™.
All WMS kits can be customized for requirements beyond the usual by selecting various options such as
Dental Emergency modules, disposable surgical staplers, or extra SAM Splints. All include
Dr. Gil Preston's FLASHCARDS™, a compact set of first aid instructions
written with the highly stressed average user in mind, printed on waterproof, tearproof paper-like material.
If you are travelling to parts of the world where medical care is lacking or absent,
the probability of making it to a decent medical facility within 12 hours overtakes all other criteria in kit
selection. Potentially, you will have to deal with more kinds of medical emergencies
and to treat them for a longer period of time -- until the emergency medical evacuation service can get you out of there.
Even if it's for 1 person, you need to consider, at a minimum, the
Humbug II™. The
Absorkee™ and
Kilimanjaro™ may also reasonable choices
depending on your destination.
