General FAQs

Can I carry my kit onto a plane?

No, we do not recommend doing so. Due to the restrictions on liquids, some of the items in the kits are not allowed as carry-ons. We recommend that you stow your kit in your luggage or pack it in a protective bag and check it at the gate. If you desire a mini-kit for your pocket or purse that is approved for carry-on, let us know and we can pack one for you from the contents of your main kit.

You mentioned having a medical evacuation plan. Do you have a recommendation?

Yes, we highly recommend using Global Rescue. We have known them for years and are well acquainted with the many successful evacuations they have spearheaded all around the world. In our opinion, there is no better provider of this kind of service than Global Rescue. Here is the link to their services: http://www.globalrescue.com/wildernessmedical/

Can you refer me to a doctor for prescription medications?

Yes, we recommend that you contact Dr. Arthur Dover at his travel medicine clinic. Here is what one of our clients had to say: “Dr. Arthur Dover is one individual that helped me sort through any medications and preventatives I would need on my 2009 trip to South Africa. His expertise was much appreciated after my visit with local public health people left me scratching my head. His comments on prescription medications are on the money and worth reading.” Here is the link to Dr. Dover’s Clinic: http://www.tahoetravelclinic.com/

What if I need refills for my kit?

  • Refills are easy to obtain from us. Simply email us at donna@wildernessmedical.com and let us know what you need. We will send an e-invoice for the refills and mail them out to you. Most refills go out within 24 hours after payment is received.
  • If your kit needs extensive refills and reorganization, you can send your kit back to us. We will refill and repack the kit, then send an e-invoice for the cost of supplies and return shipping. Here is our address to send your kit to:

Wilderness Medical Systems, LLC, 1258 Stillwater River Road, Nye, MT 59061

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, there is a flat fee surcharge for international shipping depending upon destination.

What is the best way to clean my bag?

Remove all contents from your kit. Some clients make a note to themselves about each module’s location to make repacking the kit easier. We recommend hand washing the bag in cold water using a mild soap. Stains can be gently washed with a drop of soap on a washcloth. Do not dry bags in the dryer, but lay flat to air dry.

Testimonials

I have been a user of Wilderness Medical kits for several years. My Wilderness Medical kit has traveled the world with me from kayaking the high Arctic, crossing the Patagonian Ice Cap, and trekking through the Himalayas. After a lot of research including consulting with physicians, I came to the conclusion that the Wilderness Medical kits were far and away the most comprehensive and practical medical kits commercially available.
