Dash Medical Kit FAQ’s
- DASH is especially suited for destinations/locations less than 2-4 hours from definitive U.S. level medical care.
- DASH is configured for 1-4 people on short outings.
- DASH best for those wishing to have a wide variety of contents, yet conserve space/weight.
- There are supplies and instruments for Minor Aches and Pains; Bandaging; Blisters & Sprains; Burns, Rashes & Stings; CPR; Dental; Eye, Nose & Throat; OTC medications and Wounds as well as first aid instructions printed on waterproof paper.
- DASH is 10″ x 6″ x 7″ and weighs approximately 2 1/2 pounds.
- Not easily, but, in a pinch, DASH can be supplied with a clear, zipperlock bag which can accommodate 1-2 medication bottles. Just request one when you order.
- Our smaller kit, the MAYFLY, has fewer supplies. Fewer supplies equals less capability. DASH, in contrast, has just a tad more supplies to cover up to 4 people. A good idea would be to have a larger kit, such as the PAMIR or ALTAI, nearby for quick refills and additional capability.
“I Want To Carry Less”
An additional MAYFLY bag can be supplied to carry a smaller selection of items from DASH when you’re out on short outings by foot. Capability is reduced in favor of lighter weight/volume. When you take the items packed into a MAYFLY bag, your DASH should be left nearly (say, in your truck) for quick access should the need arise. While away from your base, if supplies from DASH are needed, you must calculate twice the time/distance to get to the kit and back.

I have been a user of Wilderness Medical kits for several years. After a lot of research including consulting with physicians, I came to the conclusion that the Wilderness Medical kits were far and away the most comprehensive and practical medical kits commercially available. I have owned several of their kits from the old Slickrock (discontinued) to the Dash to the Tsavo. My Wilderness Medical kit has traveled the world with me from kayaking the high Arctic, crossing the Patagonian Ice Cap, and trekking through the Himalayas. I recently ordered another Dash as a gift for a friend who will be hiking through Kazakhstan. In addition, the owners are terrific to deal with and provide great customer service. I highly recommend these kits.
Just got back from Alaska, kit was very useful! My father went with me on a backcountry raft trip — do it yourself type of trip. He’s not in the best of health. Came through it fine, but he’s on blood thinning medicine. Couple of minor mishaps where the kit came in handy. Thought you might like the feedback.
